1×52, Week 9: Zoikle/TimeCritter Redesign
Hello! This week for my 1×52 project, I rebranded Zoikle to TimeCritter. I’m really excited about the change. The new name is easier to remember, and the new site is totally me. Critters, snacks, and snakes are my top three favorite topics of ridiculousness, ever. Yes, snakes – I’m terrified of them, and for some reason, that makes them Really Darned Funny.
PS – if you’d like to help me accomplish a Very Important Dream, holla at me on Twitter about snakes, snacks, and critters. I would very much like to be influential about these Very Important Things.
Anyway, back to TimeCritter – since the look is so very authentically me, it’ll be much easier to roll with the branding and general feel of the thing. Back in high school, I actually had my own little logo for myself that looked a LOT like the logo for TimeCritter. Being able to relate to my own project has me that much more excited about it – which will hopefully translate to even more energy and enthusiasm to make this a super sweet app.
Pick a Brand, Take a Stand
This brings me to a fabulous opportunity to share one of my favorite posts about marketing/branding – a piece from UnicornFree. Head on over to UnicornFree to read this post, stat. :) The gist is that your product/website should take a stand, have a personality – and that it’s better to really really appeal to some people, than to be “just okay” to a lot of people. Zumba is one of my favorite examples of a brand with a personality. Between neon cargo pants, sweet reggaeton moves and hot pink sneakers, the Zumba brand has me really saying, “Wow! I love that energy! I can’t find that ANYWHERE else, Zumba totally rocks!”
I think this is an excellent point to remember, both with your product and website, and with your own personal brand. Brand You.
How can you be more authentic with your own personal brand?
